Copaiba Balsam Resin is extracted from trees growing in the wild. They are found mainly in the South American rain forests, particularly in Brazil, Columbia, Peru and Venezuela. The resin is harvested by tapping or drilling holes into the trunk of the tree.
Known for its gentle, woodsy aroma, Copaiba essential oil is a product of steam distilling the gum resin tapped from the Brazilian Copaifera reticulata tree. With high levels of beta-caryophyllene and a uniquely sweet aromatic profile, Copaiba oil helps create a relaxing atmosphere when diffused or applied topically.
Interestingly, beta-caryophyllene is also the primary chemical in marijuana that gives patients relief from pain, inflammation, and other health conditions. However, copaiba oil is credited for reducing stress without the psychoactive side effects—in other words, it won’t get you “high.”
Copaiba oil is a magnifier of other oils, which means it enhances the effects of other essential oils. This is ideal for making blends for diffusing.
Copaiba on its own is a great for sleep but blended with other nighttime oils can really give you a good night's rest. Try 4 drops Cedarwood, 3 drops Lavender and 3-4 drops Copaiba for a nice sleepy time blend.
